Mangawhai Bowl Jam 2020

What a day at the 2020 Mangawhai Bowl Jam. With skaters from all over New Zealand and some Australian visitors, coupled with perfect weather all day things were looking good from the very beginning. Crowds were not disappointed, the under 16’s division skated hard and put on a show for all with three Mangawhai local kids in the mix (Monty, Sage and Ary).

The woman’s division blew minds with some phenomenal skating coming from the ladies, big grinds, big airs, fast lines. They were the big talking point of the day and surely a huge spark of inspiration to a lot of the girls in the audience.

Opens was the usual jaw dropping, physics defying stuff which always leaves us wondering if there will be any coping left on the bowl at all by the end of the day or will it all be ground to dust?

Masters also never disappoint and leave many of the older spectators wondering why they aren’t upside down, mid hand plant at the top of an 11” concrete wall.

Final results were:

OPENS
1st – Jakob Robinson
2nd – Bowman Hansen
3rd – Shaun Boucher

WOMANS
1st – Taniah Meyers
2nd – Krysta Ashwell
3rd – Lucca Landon

MASTERS
1st – Andrew Morrison
2nd – Ramon Thackwell
3rd – Stephen Nickolls

Thanks to all who came out and made the day one to remember. This year has set the precedent pretty high for next years. A big thank you and pat on the back to Jesse Peters who puts so much effort in every year to organise this day and always does such a great job!
