Chairman’s Report for MAZ for year ending 30/9/20
- The building of a retaining wall at the northern end of the playground
- Obtained a Grant from NRC of $500,000 to extend the skate arena (awarded to Contrax of Silverdale)
- Received a $30,000 donation from The Parsons Family for a future Pump Track
- Had a successful “Spirit of Mangawhai Charity Golf Tournament” played at Tara Iti where we raised $5,000
- Launched our petition asking for a Grant from The Reserve Contribution Fund
- We purchased the Portacom to be used as our meeting room
- Held a very successful Santa Parade and Carols night (total of 35 Floats in the Parade)
- Received $170,000 from the RCF for a senior pump track (meant we had to call our petition off). Contract awarded to Velo Solutions of Rotorua
- Covid 19 struck us all closing MAZ for many months
- Installed a rope climbing apparatus in the children’s playground
- Planted ground cover in and around the Pump Track and installed coconut matting
- 3 working bees (less than normal because of Covid 19)
- Donation of $60,000 from Mangawhai Central to build a new red shed plus modify existing plus make a headquarters for Mangawhai United soccer Club
The Chairman would like to acknowledge the fine work and commitment of the MAZ Committee as we have created a special Park for all visitors and the community to enjoy.
